deuces wild Posted January 15, 2005 Report Share Posted January 15, 2005 ....does it take you to totally reformat, reinstall and tweak?After having problems installing a remote HD I decided to reformat and start from scratch. The reformat was successful and I was able to install the new HD and software.I then had to reinstall my program software, partition the hard drive, create a new backup (on the remote HD) and tweak my new setup.I think I have a solid 8 hours in the total reformat process.This will never again happen as I now have a total backup on my remote HD, including my programs, picture and music.How long does it take you? There shouldn't be any personal data on most networks (it should be on network shares). Tony Posted January 15, 2005 Report Share Posted January 15, 2005 Hi To get windows up and running with the internet and network set up, then install all my drivers and assential software, such as office stuff and the like, takes about 3 hours, the rest gets installed over the next couple of weeks as i need them.If i just sat there and did it all in one go it would probably take 8 hours or so, mind you it is a lot quicker with XP as you don't have to keep restarting the machine.Tony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
