don't ask Posted January 19, 2005 Report Share Posted January 19, 2005 I saw one today sitting on our back fence!Just been looking on the net at what I saw and it definitely was a cuckoo (a female) - but it says they don't come until endMarch/April!Starting to wonder if I am the one that is a bit cuckoo! pwp Posted January 19, 2005 Report Share Posted January 19, 2005 there was an article on country file earlier this week say that as the winters are geting milder a lot of migatorary birds were staying for the winter.they also said it was important to feed them as the insects they usually feedon are not about in the winter. artist Posted January 20, 2005 Report Share Posted January 20, 2005 If you are going to feed the birds - make sure its ALL the time or not at all. Otherwise they sit about waiting and lose out on time to search for their own.I've read that in very cold weather it can mean death to a small bird if the 'regular' supply isnt there. :( Just fed our lot the last christmas pudding. :rolleyes: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

A small gang of Longtail Tits are regulars since a couple of weeks ago! I even saw a wren investigating the nut container!Gosh! - are they all trying to tell us something?
