andsome
My sister who lives in Australia is visiting the UK later this year. She has asked us to go to Scotland with her and her husband. I have thought about touring in my car and finding B & B en suite as we go. Does anyone have experience in recent years of this sort of holiday round about 15th July onward for about ten to fourteen days? I am worried that we could possibly find difficulty in getting rooms without advance notice. My wife and I had NO trouble at all doing this sort of holiday in June about twenty years ago, but I wonder if it would be too much of a gamble nowadays. The alternative is to book a coach tour in advance, but I am having difficulty in finding the sort of thing that we are after. We don't want to end up in one spot for the duration, neither do we want to spend the whole of every day on endless travel. We also prefer a loose schedule. We particularly want to explore small out of the way villages rather than the large towns. Any advice would be appreciated.
artist
We went in June too - no bother then.Probably July would be very different.Did you think of trying a search on line for B&bs?

We wanted to avoid booking ahead and tying ourselves to a schedule. We had no bother as I said in June some years ago. I just wondered if anyone had done a similar thing in July, and had any trouble. scuzzman
What's a B&B?
-pops-
B&B = Bed and Breakfast. These are usually private houses, small hotels, farmhouses that provide basic (but often very good) accomodation and a breakfast to tourists and travellers. This is often done on a "turn up and hope there's room" basis for people doing as andsome wants, that is unplanned touring around doing as the fancy takes him.Scotland is a very beautiful country, scuzzman. If you come over to the UK, make sure you visit there. :)
scuzzman
I can imagine - but then again, I can only dream of ever going to Europe :)When I saw B&B I was thinking "Bar and Billiards"
