-pops- Posted January 25, 2005 Report Share Posted January 25, 2005 The big problem with picture framing is technique, especially if the frame material has anything other than a linear pattern i.e. if there is any marking such as a ring or circle along the length. If there is anything like this it is absolutely vital to match all the mitred corners with the same sections of the non-linear pattern. If you don't, the frame will look rubbish however carefully it is made in other respects. Even if you cover the non-matching corners with a mask as some of the early framers did, the eye can soon spot slight mis-alignments.(The voice of experience :) ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
djohn Posted January 25, 2005 Report Share Posted January 25, 2005 Apart from taking the precautions that -pops- has outlined above then No, its quite straight forward, need a steady hand and a good mitre saw tool. Best to go for one of the steel mounted types that can be bought from stores such as B & Q. Unless of course you have access to a bench mounted electric mitre saw.Frame clamps can be purchased from many on-line stores and make the job much easier.
