Boris
Anyone got any advice on making the viewing area a bit clearer ?Friend has a 17" Ilyama Vision Pro 410 which he's quite happy with - but it has mysteriously got a scratch right in the middle of the screen. Sir Radfordin
How big a scratch we talking about here? Can you feel it when you run your finger nail over it? You could try some of the commerical car window cleaner products - AutoGlym (sp?) have a fairly good reputation in the trade. Also remember reading somewhere that 'pink' windoleen was good for scratchs.
andsome
You have to be very careful that you don't create an overall matt finish. I would telephone the manufacturers of the monitor.
-pops-
Be very careful. Scratches can easily strain and weaken the structure of the tube such that even a slight knock or other disturbance could cause it to collapse. This is not a very pleasant experience if you happen to be nearby at the time. I have been. I was deafened in one ear for several hours and had numerous cuts on my hands from flying glass pieces. It apears that they may have been caused by his youngster trying to "clean" the screen ???
andsome
It sounds very much as though quite a bit of material would need to be removed to remove the scratch. I would leave well alone. Otherwise there is a big danger of BANG
Sparks
One of the best products for removing scratches from glass is "Jewelers Rouge", it can be obtained in either powder or paste format. However i could not say if it would be acceptable for PC screens as i don't know whats in their surface construction.
deuces wild
A wire brush will do wonders for the screen and make the scratches more uniform. :P
-pops-
I feel a certain lack of gravitas creeping in here :)
