andsome Posted February 8, 2005 Report Share Posted February 8, 2005 I had just taken of in a Boeing 437 from Heathrow a few years ago. At 1000 feet there were a series of very loud bangs, and the plane shook about badly. We felt it falling rapidly. Eventually the pilot got it under control at just 500 feet. Not a nice experience. -pops- Posted February 8, 2005 Report Share Posted February 8, 2005 My "son in law" is a long haul airline pilot and he says there is an incident about every two months on the planes he flies - few of them as spectacular as the illustration above but, incidents just the same.He also reports that there are, on average, two passenger deaths every month on his aircraft. This is normally natural causes and not due to his flying technique. In my own experience, I've known two people die on flights I've been on.
