Andy-2004
Ive been asked to design a header for the site..www.runehq.comIts quite a popular site and i feel privilaged at being given the chance to design a header for them...Here is the e-mail from the site owner...Greetings,Thank you offering to lend a hand with the graphics used on Rune Headquarters. The response to my call for help has been overwhelming. In fact, there are more responses than I could have hoped for. I guess you can call that a luxury problem. Many people offered their help, and quite a bit made sure to either send images or links to images so that I could get an idea of the quality. I have seen many horrible graphics, blatant rip-offs and even my own bad design only slightly improved upon. Thankfully there also were various more impressive submissions, leaving me with a select group of people to choose from.I am sending this email to everyone that I think is capable of taking care of a complete header design and also create those extra bits and pieces we need on other areas of the site. The group is currently about 12 people, give or take a few. What I would like to do is have each one of you create two headers and some graphics to be used in menu and table lay-out. I will then present those submissions to the management team at RuneHQ so that we can decide which artist/design we like best. Maybe we'll even decide to go for more than one artist, if the styles are compatible. Here's what I expect to see in this next round:- Two complete headers, that have the same look and feel, but can be used separate from each other. Most importantly; the headers must use a different color scheme so that we can change the look of the site by using a different stylesheet and have the header images change along with it.- The headers should consist of 7 separate images each. Please have a look at the html code of page http://www.runehq.com/xena/test-header.php so that you understand what 7 images I am talking about. The images are named header01.gif through header07.gif- Of special interest are images header02.gif and header04.gif since these images need to be repeated several times horizontally or vertically and while still looking good. These are the images that will make sure the page can be resized by our site visitors with the header always looking good. I cannot emphasize enough how important this feature is to me, so make sure the images work.- One or more images that can be used as separators in a vertical menu.- One or more images that can be used as background in a table header in the main content area of the site.- One or more images that can be used to draw attention. Think bullets in a bullet list or other eye-catchers.- Imaginative designs. We really need graphics artists who are able to create something new. I've seen too many submissions which were poor copy/paste jobs. The Runescape theme must of course be present in the headers, and using some in-game images in a creative way is welcome, but we are looking for an identity of our own. Go wild, you know you can :o)FYI: The lay-out we are aiming for is similar to the http://uo.stratics.com web site. We'll have a header area that needs to look superb, and below that a content area that's flanked by menus on the right and left side. Feel free to use that site's lay-out as a guideline when creating your graphics. Please make sure to send your work to me on friday march 25 at the latest. I will then do my best to make a decision that weekend and hopefully get back to you the week after that.Don't hesitate to ask if things are not clear to you. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the submissions. Good luck !Ive tryed making a few and i need some ideas to improve them or if they are perfect id like to here it from you...:Pwell...here is the link to my first versions...http://andy.residentevilhq.com/runehq/runehqheaders.htmlThanks,Andy

scuzzman
Yes, it goes orange then blue.
andsome
It opens in well under a second, and there is no orange
scuzzman
It is a very fast flash, but there is orange there.Maybe if you ripped apart the layers in the picture Andy, there may be an orange one...Also - your sig block. If you wish to make the image part of the link, then do it this way:http://andy.residentevilhq.com/sigs/mysigs.html
djohn
The bar opens in blue, no orange flash either in IE6 or Firefox. The two examples they have shown to you are in blue and one in brown with orange. That gives a clue as to the colour they prefer.Silver grey is what I like, but for the time being I would stay with colours close to what they use as examples. The gold one which ties in with the second example they have asked you to look at is an excellent choice to send.I would offer the yellow/gold and the blue ones as examples of your work as they make no mention of getting away from their present colour scheme. They do say that both examples MUST be in different colours, but no mention of change. If they like what you present, and you get through to the next round, then may be the time to suggest different colour.Your work is way beyond what has been shown to you, go for it and good luck. :)
Andy-2004
I have just made amy different variations of the end image...the blue dragon...To have a look...download this...http://andy.residentevilhq.com/runehq/images.zip
djohn
Header 2 images with header number 01.Optional header 03 (05) looks good to me. Viewed at 1280x1024 on a colour calibrated 17" TFT.
Andy-2004
The extra header03's are all going to be submited...and i had an idea that he could set it up so that every time you refresh the page it changes images (possible???)also...Header 2 images with header number 01.What you mean?
djohn
Sorry, I thought you was asking me to download the file and choose which I liked best. From the 4 headings each with several files inside and also an optional heading folder, I opened everyone and had a look then chose those two as examples I liked. :)I think I misunderstood what you wanted and now I'm more confused than you are.

djohn
I like the yellow/gold one, but each time I look, and its been quite a lot today, the green one is starting to attract my attention more.
scuzzman
also...does anyone know what- One or more images that can be used as separators in a vertical menu.would be?I'm guessing just a small image to go in between items on a vertical menu ie:Menu Item #1[seperator image]Menu item #2[seperator image]Menu Item #3[seperator image]Ment Item #nYou're probably looking at a small bar-type image, maybe with some fancy stuff at the ends. This will probably go into a frame of some type, probably about an inch wide.
Andy-2004
a small bar-type image, probably about an inch wide.thanks...maby...to tie in with the theme i should make a smaller version of my catagory headers?
scuzzman
I'm thinking a smaller version of that line thing you have in the previews...Upon viewing the source, I see it is 3 images.Maybe the header-center.gif and the header-left.gif combined...Like this:And then, maybe something on the left side so it's not so flat, but not like on the right side... it will look tacky. scuzzman
Upon second thought, also might not want something so tall...Maybe half that height.
