Daft question

Recommended Posts

Our work server was upgraded over the weekend and I now have a problem (a minor one admittedly!)

On the toolbar on my desktop I had a shortcut created which, when I clicked it, automatically minimised all programmes I had opened and went to desktop. I lost my shortcuts when the server was upgraded and I want the icon back because it made my life so much easier!

I have tried MS Help etc but it only tells me how to create shortcuts for files/folders/applications and when I try to right-click on the 'Desktop' within Explorer it does not let me create a shortcut.

Please help if you can.

Is the toolbar missing or just that icon? If it's the toolbar, just right click the taskbar, point to toolbars and click "Quick Launch"

If it's the icon, copy the file from the attached zip into C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Try it anyways. :)

Edit: you may need to enable show hidden files/folders to do this, see http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Pressing, Windows key + M minimizes all windows.

To recreate the "Show Desktop" Icon,

Copy and paste the following lines into a Notepad file.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save the file to your Desktop as Show Desktop.scf. Next left click on the file you just created and drag it down to the Quick Launch bar and release.
