My nephew (my wife's sister's son) got married today. The wedding was at 2:30 p.m. and my wife and my daughter attended. Sorry, I do not do weddings (except for my family) and my son was working.

I did attend the *reception* that started at 4:30 along with my wife, daughter and son (he got off of work at 3). No alcohol, no pop/soda.....just punch or water. We are seated in the front corner of the party room next to a large music speaker that made conversation at the table impossible. Crappy food. Loud music. No conversation. Nothing but punch or water to drink. Oh how fun. The time dragged...tick...tock.

So after 2 1/2 hours of sitting through this crap I tell my wife we are leaving. She throws a hissy fit as it is her side of the family (a side we see maybe once/year, if that) and she thinks we should stay longer. OK. So I go sit in the lobby trying to get my hearing back and join her back at the table about 10 minutes later. She finally agrees to leave (reluctantly) giving me the *evil eye* in doing so. :o

We say our goodbyes to everyone and finally leave. We are not even out the door when we see the brides parents and grandparents driving away, along with about half of the people at the reception.

I point this out to her, trying to show that we *served our time* and were not leaving the party early. So do I get an apology? Nope.

Just had to vent while trying to get rid of a mother of a headache. I figured I earned my way to heaven tonight.

I know the feeling well of sitting next to speakers that make conversation impossible, you shout they can't hear, they shout you can't hear and on it goes...

What a relief when you can finally get out into the piece and quiet of the outdoors and the fresh air to go with it.
