Tankus Posted May 7, 2003 Report Share Posted May 7, 2003 Watching breaky TV this morning and they had a mother, whose 18 year old daughter had been brutally raped then murdered several years ago, because the bas tard who did it was also a teenager , and supposedly remorseful that he had done it ,( after he was arrested ), he was given a "life" sentence of 15 years..."Justice".....The still grieving mother pointed out that the the purps on the Dome diamond heist were given 25..............Channel 4 news tonight ...!""the average sentence actually served for murder in England and Wales is now 14 years with remissionTony Martin is now (Allegedly) still being held in prison ,because he still poses a threat to burglars who may get on his property ....apparently they have rights too..............GGrrr Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If I decide to protect my home and have a big guard dog, and he bites a burgler, or if I put barbed wire on my fence and he cuts himself, or even if he trips over the door mat and hurts himself, he can sue me. There are many things that I don't like about the USA, but at least there, you are allowed to protect yourself and your home. The thing is that it will only get dafter and dafter here if Brussells have their way. It's about time we decided to go our own way, telling Brussells to stuff it. I cannot stand Blair and his government in many ways, but I am firmly with Blunkett in his new ideas on certain killers. The problem is, that the so called civil rights campaigners and do gooders have already started to complain.For heavens sake I could go on for ever, but I think I've made myself clear. I have visited California several times when my daughter lived there for three years, and my gorgeous little granddaughter is half American. One or two things that I don't like just to put you into the picture.I don't like a voting system that allowed Bush to cheat by twisting the law as he did. I don't like being in a restaurant when there are very over loud Americans making their conversation overheard by everyone else. ( They usually sound as though they are from an over large southern state) I don't like the very strident domineering type of bleached over made up American woman,(you must know the type that I mean).I very much liked the welcoming attitude of Californians. It is a beautiful state. Yosemite, the redwood forests, the Mojave desert, Big Sur etc are all out of this world. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Dave Brubeck's son Danny when my daughter who had befriended his wife took us to visit them. They could not have made us more welcome, and we always go backstage to meet the family when Dave tours in the UK. It is a fact that everyone who registered was allowed a vote but many did not bother to use it. Unfortunately a majority of labour candidates got in, but there was no hint of corruption in the system. It is a sad fact that the US system proved to be corrupt, with many black and poor people denied the vote. When it went to court the whole system was then rigged in Bush's favour. It's easier and quicker.Cars kill more people than guns? Not on pavements.The French, I love 'em. They look after themselves first, buy their own cars (how many Jap cars do you see over there?), arrange to get rid of their asylum seekers quicky (via the Channel Tunnel). Their police are fairly laid back, unless you commit a real crime. They, in general, leave the motorists alone. Their 14 year old kids ride their 50cc Peugeot scooters on the pavement, 'cos it's safer. Nicely dressed 70 year old women pop their poodles in the supermarket trolly and walk round doing their shopping. The train service is better, as is their health system. I could go on but I believe if we took a leaf out of their book then we could re-insert the Great in front of Britain.By the way, welcome to everyone who slipped in unnoticed.To all out Canadian and American cousins, I'm a bit creamed so will shortly be having a rosie then off up the apples to uncle for a nice long Bo. Enjoy your day.Quick story regarding the French. I had driven down from the Alps and was driving at about 60 mph. I went round a right hand bend and noticed a sign, 45 (as in kph). As I slowed I noticed there was a speed check and thought 'Oh ****'. and joined the queue. While those in front were being dealt with, a female police officer walked towards me and said 'Bonjour'. I said to my wife, 'It's on the spot fines here, how much have you got'? Before she could reply the policewomen said, looking at my Peugeot 405, ''Anglais', 'Oui' I replied, 'Ah, Peugeot'. I said 'Oui, trebon, parfait' With that she waved me on saying 'Au revoir monsuir, drive carefully'. Lovely country, lovely people, c rap government. My wifes cousin who has lived in San Diego for the past 25 years boasts that there are ONLY 3 or 4 murders per week where he lives. That's all right then.Yep, guns are a way of life..................................and death quite often.What's the point of shooting something if you can't eat it? It's a bit like fishing. Deer and others are not common at the stores ...Others hunt & fish for the sporting aspect - divided opinion on that subject here too (PETA - etc. )Shootings are common in different areas of the country - especially gang-related bull$hit. The theory seems to hold true that if you take guns away, then only the criminals will have them because they will always find a source.The US is rather "famous" for lack of border patrol so *everything* can be gotten for a price.
