Alan2273 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Share Posted August 12, 2005 I have 2 computers an AMD 64 3500 running XP home and an Amd 3000 shuttle on which I have taken the plunge and installed Mepis.I would like some suggestions as to a wireless router to connect the two computers and how easy is it to do.Please keep it simple as I am only just starting to learn Mepis. As for wireless, the equipment you're going to be concerned with is the wireless adapter. mark2 Posted August 13, 2005 Report Share Posted August 13, 2005 Hi Alan, a wired connection will be simpler for you (apart from installing the wires) I haven't yet managed to get wireless working with my linux partition :( but the Network cards have always been picked up and installed without a problem. Not only are we more likely to have members who have experienced the model and can therefore help you with configuration, but access to manufacturer support and firmware updates are also far more likely. We will help if we can, but hands on experience is better.# Consider your future needs. Right now you may need wires-only access for 2 computers, but with prices of wireless routers (which usually include a 4 port wired switch) falling ever closer to those of their wires-only counterparts, you might be better off spending a few more pennies now and future proofing yourself.
