Is this a Scam

I have received the following Email from an unknown source :-

You have been refferred to us: (Refferral ID: R6928)

Based on your present knowlege and past life experiences our Univsersity administeration office has been trying to contact you. We feel you may qualify for one of our Univsersity digrees in your area of expertice.

We have been qualifying people based on thier experienses in past and present jobs and are offering qualified digrees with transcrips for those that qualify.

If you call our offices now we can confirm our information and send you either a Batchelors', Masters', or Docterate within 2 weeks.

Administeration Hours:

24 hours, 7 Days a week, including Sundays and Holidays

I quite fancy having a Docterate but am concerned that this might be a scam

The fact that the spelling is awful makes me think it is a scam.

How can a university offer degrees when they cannot even spell.

When I got my doctorate it took seven years of hard slog - similarly with my offspring.

There are a number of US "Universities" set up specifically to distribute these bogus qualifications where the only requirement on the part of the "student" is the ability to part with money (all well known credit cards accepted).

Even before I retired and even more so now, all people claiming to have degree qualifications, especially higher degrees, are thoroughly investigated by most prospective employers to ensure that the issuing university is not one of these "degrees by the yard" establishments.

Note, if the quote you give, Alan, is directly from the email you received than the writer should embark on a "Use of English" course with special attention given to spelling which, even on the American system, is appalling.

Check the name and phone number in the email I linked to.

Same number, diff name.

Also, check the email headers - you will probably find that it originates from China or Nigeria, not where it is supposed to come from. You can use http://www.spamcop.net/ to analyze message headers & body.

I ran it through my Nigerian and Chineses spell check but it did not find any errors - hence must be acceptable spelling there.

However - I am not going to pursue it cuz I would prefer a docterate or digree from a UK Univsersity
