-pops-
Very sparingly apply a CLEAR window cleaner solution and gently remove with a soft cloth.
lester1
-pops-What do you mean by a clear window cleaner solution
-pops-
The clear trigger spray solutions that you get in supermarkets. NOT the old fashioned "cream" type - if they are still obtainable.

andsome
I always wring a cloth out well that has had a very dilute detergent solution on it, and wipe gently over with that.
dadyassa
Many thanks -pops- :DOn my link it says liquid gets sucked into the screen by capillary retraction, so no liquid should be used
andsome
Many thanks -pops- :DOn my link it says liquid gets sucked into the screen by capillary retraction, so no liquid should be used  :blink:That's why I ring the cloth out as much as possible so that it is only damp. -pops-
Many thanks -pops- :DOn my link it says liquid gets sucked into the screen by capillary retraction, so no liquid should be used  :blink:The screen is a sheet of plastic - impervious to water. If it means down the edges, then there is a seal which prevents liquid ingress.

"All agree that care must be taken not to put pressure on the screen, that use of abrasives (for example, paper towels) should be avoided and that liquids should not be applied directly to the screen. Virtually all recommend against the use of ammonia-based cleaners and solvents such as acetone. Some suggest using a soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with just water, or dilute vinegar - but do check beforehand for cleaning instructions in the manual or on the manufacturer's Web site." Thos
Are the proprietary wipes any good or is it throwing money away?Thos. They may contain chemicals, why take the risk?True enough. But they are being sold for the specific purpose of cleaning TFT screens and if they caused harm surely there would be an outcry?I only mentioned them because I saw a carton of wipes among the TFT display at John Lewis this morning. I couldn't be bothered pricing them, there were too many people around but I was tempted as my screen is filthy. A clean duster doesn't get the spots off.(I have the same problem with my specs!)Thos. :)
