Windows Message

When I booted my main machine this morning I noticed an unusual red shield in the Sys tray and clicking on it, I received the message that there was no firewall or anti-virus detected.

I checked and found my AVG was operating as was my Sygate firewall.

I clicked again on the message to bring up the Windows security page and found that the tick boxes for "independent" A/V and firewalls had been unticked by something.

This was the first re-boot since the installation of this month's Windows Tuesday update. Could it be something to do with this? Has anyone else had a similar message recently?

I've done a re-install from my Tuesday backup.

Gosh! He even practices what he preaches. Well Done pops, dunno that my backup would be that recent.

I always do a backup before I install any software - that includes Windows updates which are far from infallible in being able to cockup your system. I knew these updates were coming so I backed up last thing Tuesday night before shutting down.

I also installed the Media Purveyor program I mentioned yesterday. It's now back in again with no worrying message problems.

Now I just put it down to a glitch in the system.
