dadyassa
Hi guys a little advice please.A nasty tried to get on my PC, I have got rid of most of it but kept getting a missing DLL window.I msconfigged and in selective startup, unticked the box for it.I then got a window saying about this PC is starting in selective startup, is it OK to leave as is or is there a way to take it out of the startup and return to ordinary startup.TIA john
-pops-
What I would do is a re-install from backup. :(
mark2
Did you uninstall using their uninstaller ?Methinks a Hijackthis log would not go amiss to check for any of it's cousins that may have sneaked in with it. :(

mark2
Surprisingly their uninstaller does actually work, as does the add remove programs method when the uninstall file is in the folder.Problems arise with incorrect removal of New.netEarlier versions of Adaware (v5) were prone to ripping it out and breaking your internet connection. :(
dadyassa
Thanks for the help guys, but as I say things seem to be ok so I will leave it for a while, if problems arise I will post a hijackthis log. Thanks john.
nellie2
NewdotNet is one of the 'nice' guys of the malware world.... if you don't want it then it is very easy to get rid of it... by using add/remove progs. If you have any problems with that then you can safely follow the instructions for removal that they provide on thier site.NewDotNet removal
dadyassa
Thanks nel, I think I have got rid of it though :) Also I think I will give startup inspector a go.
r4may
Thanks nel, I think I have got rid of it though :) Also I think I will give startup inspector a go.I find startup inspecter quite useful as if you use it when you are on line it will give you a an analysis of the startup programs. Helps you decide if you need it or not

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I have no problems downloading from http://www.windowsstartup.com/download.php (click on the Download link). If you still have problems, google for Download Inspector, and you will find dozens of alternate download sites, e.g. from download.com ((but the windowsstartup.com download is newer).
