ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted January 24, 2006 Report Share Posted January 24, 2006 In a previous WindowsUpdate session WU suggested that I'd install Windows Media Connect, which after declining a few times, I finally did.The next time I went into Add/Remove Programs I noticed that I had two instances of Windows Media Connect in there; one from 2004, and one from 2006. Also in Control Panel I had two Windows Media Connect entries.So I went and uninstalled the 2004 version. It gave me some warning that it could not uninstall everything. So just to be on the safe side I uninstalled version 2 as well. Gave me the same error. And the 2004 uninstall entry remained in Add/Remove Programs. So did the 2 Control Panel entries.So I went and deleted the two Program Files subfolders and did a reboot.The Control Panel entries are gone. But in Add/Remove Programs I still have 2 Windows Media Center entries; one has hijacked the Windows Media Player uninstall, the other one has kidnapped Security Update KB908519.Any suggestion how to unmess that mess? :blink: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted January 24, 2006 Report Share Posted January 24, 2006 System Restore?No help to you now but I have a rule when I make alterations to my computers, that is adding, removing, updating or altering programs also the same with hardware. I always make a full backup of my system before doing it. That way if something does go wrong I can always revert to my previous setup. This has saved me from disaster a number of times.
