cftmon.exe how do I dump it?

Recommended Posts

I'm attaching a screen dump from Startup Inspector. I'm concerned about cftmon.exe. I gather that this is part of M$Office and relates to language conversion. As I only do English - and not very well - I don't think I need it. I've tried a few times to disable/remove this item without success. Any suggestions/comments please?

Have now got some info. This I followed through, giving recommendations regarding removing items via add/remove changs. It said click on the (+) sign next to Office Shared features but I don't have that I can only find the items listed below. As you can see it has Spanish and French items present. Don't use those!

Ah Ha. Managed to click on each of those files, then updated via the installation disk. Now have just clicked on the offending item in Startup Inspector deleted and applied. Seems to have gone. Will now do a restart (with confidence now?) and see what happens!

Think I'll have to Nel. Been trying to clean up my start up routine before clearing out other rubbish. Have found a few program residues from applications I removed - all via add/remove I might add and the installation disks where applicable. Thanking all who helped up to now.

Hi Doug :)

As you have said ctfmon.exe is part of the office suite. Now to install the suite without installing ctfmon.exe all you have to do is a manual install and open the hives which relate to the speech recognition/ language conversion and make sure those boxes are unticked. When i first installed the office suite back in 2001 the ctfmon.exe was a real pain for many people but today with all the various updates that have taken place since then it probably has been fixed. Anyhow Doug give the above a try and see how it goes

Regards
