andsome Posted April 14, 2006 Report Share Posted April 14, 2006 I am regularly getting a message recently that says that Outlook express can free up disk space by compressing messages. Why should this be happening. Currently there are 109 in deleted items. 1 in inbox.0 in sent items.And 21 in assorted folders. These are essays that my son has sent us to read. I have been ignoring this message, but yesterday clicked yes out of curiosity. A small scroll bar occurred showing Deleted items compressing, and as I said there was only 109 of these. Almost all of these were board e-mails giving links to posting. I have on occasion had over 1000 of these deleted items in the past. I cannot understand why I should be offered a compression when so little is in OE. There's little point in being able to delete old e-mails if they are going to stay around for ever. This is why when i get the message, it is always the deleted folder that compacts.
