Program icons

Maybe my memory is faulty, but I seem to recall that after clicking START and going to programs, all or most of the programs had individual icons. Now only a few do, see screen shot. Should there be individual icons, and if so how do I get them back please?

Mine are like that but note that the"blank" icons are associated with expandable entries i.e. folders. Do you get the fancy icons on the extensions if you hover over the items?

Yes I do, but I seem to recall that most of the programs had icons of their own. Maybe my memory is at fault.

Not that I recall. The way I described above is the same on each of my machines.

I understand that an icon will only appear when associated with an executable file - ie : the .exe file for the programme.

In the programme listing any expandable folders containing such programme files will show a generic folder icon.

You're start menu is fine. As Alan said, the icons only appear on programs, not folders.

You will notice if you double click any of those folders, it will open it in an explorer window, and you are able to see all icons, but it you go back a folder (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Start Menu) all the folders are just that, folders. They do not have icons.
