catgate Posted April 20, 2006 Report Share Posted April 20, 2006 I am led to believe that this app. is a dial-up app. I am also led to believe that it can cause some of the malfunctions and error messages that I seem to be fighting . Is this app. needed for BB connection and if not what, apart from a gallon of petrol and a match, would be the best way of getting rid of it? When I do (with i: substituted for d:, because that's my CD drive) I am informed that the file can not be opened.When I go and look at it, win_42.cab does not contain rnapp.exe/When I go Start> find> find files and folders>i:> rnaapp.exe I get the message that there is no file of that name on that drive.As far as I was aware the "Find" command looked inside all directories and cabs in a drive. The MS suport page indicates it is a fault with the dial up facility. In that I am not on dial up, but am on BB, I should have thought that any dial up facility would not be needed, and hence rnaapp should not be shown as a running process in the alt/ctr/del box. I am not at all sure of my ground. I am speaking from a broad base of ignorance on the matter. One of the things that affects my thinking is that when I was on dial up one could actually hear the operation taking place inside "the box". However I just wonder sometimes about the advice/statements that appears on such sites, particularly when they are trying to sell something. Scarecrow Man Posted April 22, 2006 Report Share Posted April 22, 2006 Since you are using DSL, you still have to "dial" to get connectivity. Some DSL routers have this built into them, so your PC does not dial, the router does.You may still need rnaapp.exe. Make a backup, disable it, and try again.
