kismetk
Hi all :) My machine was left on standby, green light flashing. I pushed the power button to get it active and nothing happened. Pushed again to switch it off. Now the machine does nothing at all when I push the power button, dead as a dodo. Have checked the power cable, and the attached wireless router is still working. Any suggestions would gratefully received.J

kismetk
Yes, it's OK and I can now see a green light on somewhere inside.
trackrat
Can you take the side of your case to see if there are any LED's alight on your motherboard?.I see from your profile that you have an AMD754 motherboard, which is not that old.Is your computer still under warranty, if it is do not take the side off, call in the people who you have the warranty with. Scarecrow Man
The green light on the inside indiciates the power is switched on, and the motherboard is recieving power.Perhaps your power switch has broken?
kismetk
The motherboard is actually an Asus A7N8X Deluxe, machine not under warranty. The green light is on the motherboard, between two slots. If the power switch is broken, is it difficult to replace?
Scarecrow Man
It usually requires replacing the front end of the case, which also usually means an entire new case. They can run about $30 - $200 CDN.
kismetk
Does this then mean dissembling the machine and reassembling in the new case, reloading operating system and and software?
rong
just the dissembling the machine and reassembling in the new case.

trackrat
If you feel competent enough you can Verify that case power switch is working before you buy a new case. Bypass case switch by shorting power switch pins on motherboard with small screwdriver

It's really kind of useless.., and it can cause those kind of problems... ;) It usually requires replacing the front end of the case, which also usually means an entire new case. They can run about $30 - $200 CDN.Why oh Why would you have to replace the Whole front of the case or purchase a whole new case just to replace a simple little switch???? Or "momentary on Pushbutton" to be more exact..? ;) ?
jason.b.c
Does this then mean dissembling the machine and reassembling in the new case, reloading operating system and and software? Maybe it's just your power supply unit is going bad..?? ;)
CurlyWhirly
If the power switch is broken, is it difficult to replace? This is why I have configured my PC to start up when I press the Power button as it saves on wear and tear on the power switch.
