Boot up

Recommended Posts

Here's a new developement -

The boot up stopped and I got 'VGA MODE NOT SUPPORT'

I pressed reset then - ' FDC FAILURE'

I googled them - first is to do with an unsupported driver it seems - which one though?

The second to do with the floppy disc drive - which I never use?

Sorry if I sound stupid.................... :(

Only one bleep now.........

yikes, you should of threw up a couple of these after your last post.. :censored::censored::censored: Anyway, try entering your bios and make sure everything is connected and seen, or replacing everthing to default and you may want to change the order of drives checked by the bios to put the floppy last. Try hitting F8 and when you get the menu go to "enable vga mode" I think is what it says. It sounds as if your floppy drive is going bad (BFC=bad floppy controller). Also does your floppy sound like its reading when you start up or if the light stays on theirs a problem.

Hook up a wired keyboard! See if that fixes it, if it doesn't does it give you more than one BIOS beep? Also when did this happen, after installing hardware, software or out of nowhere?

I'm on the laptop again!!

Couldn't get the pc to boot up again, in spite of the change yesterday.

There's 3 beeps then the red light goes out. Problem came from nowhere. I don't know if the keyboard works today. If I ever get the pc to start - I'll try a wired keyboard.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to pay someone some money.................... :(

It beeped three times.?? If it beeps three times then thats the motherboard getting ready to take a dump..

Your computer shouldn't beep more than twice at the most.. ;) I read that in a computer book..

Can someone please tell me something simple I can do - or not..........

The floppy does graunch when booting up but the light doesn't stay on- can it not just be removed?

It is a TFT monitor but seems fine..........1024x768

I have a disc with drivers on it that came with the comp when it was made.

Disconnected the floppy drive - tried the one from the upstairs computer - no good.

The PC doesn't even stay on now - few seconds and it just goes off. To the shop I think - or a new one (hopefully :P )
