A small DOS window will open with a cursor blinking away. Type the word,pingthen tap the space bar on your keyboard then the following www.windowsforum.orgOr, www.google.comOr, www.bbc.co.ukHit the enter key on your keyboard and it will give results similar to those shown in the post from Rebel. If you want to copy them out to post here then left click on the little C:/ Icon top left of window, select 'edit/sellect all' then 'edit/copy' come back to the forum and right click and paste. Pinging a site is one way of checking if its down or not, also looking at the response times in milliseconds gives you some idea of how quick you can access that site. Another useful tool and one that can actually help show where there are any problems or holdups is a 'tracert' Exctly the same as the ping but use the word 'tracert' instead.tracert www.windowsforum.org is what you place in the command window instead of the word 'ping'. Why the massive difference?I think it's because the ping (or tracert) time depends on which way your signal travels down the internet and also how busy the replying server is?As the WF server is a shared resource perhaps the ping time is slightly higher than if you were replying to a dedicated server?My ping times to WF always vary but are usually in the 120 - 150 ms range. 13thHouR Posted January 17, 2007 Report Share Posted January 17, 2007 For those of you considering migrating over to SKY Broadband, I think I should post my experience of this ISP from hell.An excerpt of a recent article I published.I have Now confirmed that I got slammed (Illegally Migrated from an ISP without authority) by SKY Broadband (Easynet).Basically, I had considered migrating to them, but thought better of it after doing some further background checks . I found there was no change from the old Easynet responses, Fake unbundling dates, poor tech support (As an example It takes you about a week just to get something as simple as DNS settings from them. As DNS is too advanced of an issue for the script reading level 1 tech support there).So within 12 hours of Signing up………..I cancelled again (Did not even give them time to progress the order to the next level team).However from what I have been able to find out, a member of the SKY Broadband sales team went back in about 7 hours later and reinstated the order to the BT Wholesale to carry out the Migration (Conveniently their Login ID has been removed form their system).
