Boris Posted June 30, 2003 Author Report Share Posted June 30, 2003 Yes ellas - a red LED (never actually seen it on of course !)Used Brass standoffs - as supplied with case.Took everything out and put it all back first thing this morning - no change !That's why I took the PSU in to work - but can't do anything until every one else has gone home. Boris Posted July 4, 2003 Author Report Share Posted July 4, 2003 Tracked it down ! :) The Tsunami PSU - although its 350W + allegedly rated to give 14A on 12V - it just can't cope with the initial load of the XP2000 + 512MB PC2700 +Geforce4 alone ! I tried a borrowed Jeantech JNP400P which gives 17A on 12V (with a peak of 20A) and it all fires up - no problems !Now all I have to do is get an uprated one (- Whitchurch Fair on Sunday ?) and I'm back in business !!! :D :D :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Shirley_Crabtree Posted July 5, 2003 Report Share Posted July 5, 2003 Hmmmmm...For the last 2 days I've had a very similar problem.I've built a system based on a K7S5A PRO motherboard.The only things connected are an XP2100+ cpu,(and heatsink and fan),256mb PC133 ram and Radeon 9100 LE Graphics card.The PSU is a 350watt twin fan generic type.I switch on and all the fans fire up etc signalling things are fine...but I have no display and the damn thing won't post.Today I accidentally booted up with the cpu fan disconnected from power supply.....Lo and behold...it started booting up and text appeared on the monitor.I switched it straightoff :o and connected the fan to power but even with the fan running at slowest speed the thing refuses to boot up..So,do I need a new PSU?Probably..!!Hey-ho it's off to Nothern Computer Markets at the Doncaster Dome tomorrow!!Cheers.Shirl. Boris Posted July 6, 2003 Author Report Share Posted July 6, 2003 Thanks Snec,I think it helped to stop me losing it (with all the frustration) - communicating my problems to everyone.The new QTech 550w Dual Fan PSU (thread below) seems to be the answer !http://www.windowsforum.org/support/forum/...=15entry27866- with EVERYTHING connected (except monitor) just switched it on :D :D :D Lovely little red light showing on mobo, 2x PSU fans, cpu fan + case fan all running - so tonight will be format/partition/install !The same "Quality" 350w Tsunami PSU which came in the Capricorn case + which I think was the cause of all the problems was actually on sale today at the fair(sealed boxes) for a whole £10.Anyone want my "old" one for this price ??? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
