AlanHo Posted September 23, 2006 Report Share Posted September 23, 2006 Over the past three weeks or so we have received several phone calls on our home phone (not a mobile) at random times where an automated voice says something like :-"You have a text message. The message is.....You have a text message, please call xxxxxx207530 to hear the message" it then provides another number for you to ring to stop further reminders, repeats the number and rings off. (I didn't record the full number other than the last 6 digits)The call comes from 07953966066 according to the log on my DEC phones..Does any of our techie gurus have an explanation. I am loathe to call the number because of concern that it might be one of those queer premium rate numbers that charge you dear - only to be told you have won a free holiday or a free Rolex or some other scam....These calls come in at various times during the day - even late in the evening - are a total nuisance and I would like to stop them - I am already registered with all the Preference Services by the way.Any ideas anyone ??? The message tells you that you've won riches beyond the dreams of avarice and to ring another number to confirm and then you ring another number and so on and so on.In the end, you have won a prize (this makes it legal, just) but you've spent about £20 to be the proud owner of a 20p pad of tat writing paper.
