Our 10 yr G'daughter loves her CD player which is just about falling apart. She comes on holiday with us each year and I ve always transferred talking books onto CD's for here - usually about 30/40 hours worth. So she's always well occupied. Now what are the pros and cons of buying an ipod or something similar. I've been quoted 1 GB ipods at~70 GBP for 1 GBp, 80/2GB and 120 for 4 GB. All I can get from the sellers is how many songs they will play! e.g. 1000 songs. I presume the storage format is totally different to that for CD's - in other words I'm getting a bit confused over the 700 MB CD's and 1 GB = 1000 songs. So if anyone can follow my drift suggestions will be very welcome.Will look in from time to time whenever I can escape - she's having a Kip just now. Some years ago in Gran Canaria things were so cheap, and I bought a well known BRAND NAME set of earphones. They turned out to be counterfiet rubbish. They had loads of so called Canon, Nickon, Pentax etc cameras, all at rock bottom prices. Looking back I'm just glad I exercised caution on these. So if anyone can follow my drift suggestions will be very welcome.Will look in from time to time whenever I can escape - she's having a Kip just now.The songs on CD's are high in size for quality...Your average album, what? 15 tracks, 22 tracks...When the iPod stores songs it stores them in ACC or MP3, these files are much smaller and so you can store more...1000 songs is possible and more. It all depends on the qulaity of the sound.So a 128kbps track would sound degraded when compared to a 320kps track. However you could fit more 128kbps tracks on the iPod.
