delboy Posted October 20, 2006 Report Share Posted October 20, 2006 I have now reached the stage where I cannot use Windows Explorer to view My Computer.On each occasion that I use it, it produces and error note - duly sent to Windows - but with no solution. The Q&A only shows conflict with Kodak photo software which I do not have.I have had to resort to other tree explorers to be able to view my files with any confidence.Anyone with same problem? -pops- Posted October 21, 2006 Report Share Posted October 21, 2006 We have to remember as well that some of our members with specialist knowledge may not be in the same part of the world (and different time zone) as the person making the enquiry.Windows Forum is truly international and has members all over the world.I am based in the UK and, although I may think I can answer some specific or specialised enquiry, I may know that another member, in for example Japan, is an expert in that field so I will leave it to them to reply.We never deliberately ignore enquiries and if you think you have been neglected (and your post has not been answered in a reasonable time or has moved to the second page) refresh the post to bring it to our attention. delboy Posted October 21, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 21, 2006 Perhaps I was in too much of a hurry with my comment. My explorer.exe is still failing. Cannot fathom out why.I get the usual error message and when submitted to Windows, explorer shuts down. I really do need a realiable explorer and would prefer to stick with the windows version, although now have others loaded.So perhaps someone else has a view on what is the problem. hell monkey Posted October 23, 2006 Report Share Posted October 23, 2006 I did...Open a Command Prompt and type: regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll...for about the tenth time and it worked; now explorer doesn't end when I open folders with downloaded avi files :) Although wmp player still ends when I open from those same folders lol.
