andsome
I understand Hillary Clinton is getting quite excited.I trust DW will be along soon to explain the situation more fully and accurately than is expressed in our media. Can we be sure that he will look at things with BOTH eyes? :lol:Congratulations to the Democrats. :)We posted at the same time. I can't believe this, have you seen the light? :D

deuces wild
The ball is now in the Dems court. Change may be good but unfortunately I see higher taxes, higher interest rates and a recession within the next 2 years. But I am willing to give them a chance. Heck, I even voted for a couple of Dems (I have never voted straight party line but for the best candidate echoing my values).
andsome
If higher taxes help the very poor in US society I see no harm in that. Had the government done more, and done it more quickly in New Orleans, they may have picked up a few more votes.

joysness
Apologies to Deuces in advance, but I just gotta sayMANDATE!!!!!!!!WE WON. And now the fun begins.John Conyers (Democrat who wrote a book documenting all the impeachable offenses of Bush and Cheney) is now Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and can get things rolling toward impeachment of these war crimainals. Yes, yes yes.......Doin' my happy dance.... I can't stop smiling :D :D :D :D

Yes, yes yes.......Sigh. Our first sign that the Democrats do not want to move ahead and cooperate but rely on the same old negative tactics.......this time pushing to impeach Bush. My, my. Bush is giving the Dems anything they want......the first was getting rid of Rumsfeld as they wanted. He wants to put the ball in the Dems court.........give 'em all they want....they will either shoot themselves in the foot or succeed. They will pay the price in 2 years if they don't. For the record I sincerely hope they succeed. As of today, the Dems inherited a 4.4% unemployment rate (the lowest in over a decade), record stock market levels, gasoline around $2/gallon and a booming economy. .........but most importantly..........no terrorist attacks on US soil since 9-11.I doubt things will be that way in 2 years..........although I hopefully will be wrong.Perhaps it was time for change. The Republicans fell away from their roots of conservatism. Over spending. Blue nose politicing. Not listening to the people they serve. The next 2 years should be interesting. OK Democrats. You deserve to be congratulated and the show will soon be yours. Time to start walking the walk. :)

deuces wild
All on the lamb Just how big is your national deficit ...?I guess you did not read my previous post as I said:Perhaps it was time for change. The Republicans fell away from their roots of conservatism. Over spending. Blue nose politicing. Not listening to the people they serve.Note the phrase *Over Spending*. Got it? ;) BTW: Why does the US National Debt concern you? Perhaps you should focus your attention on the triple digit (in billions of UK pounds) the UK has amassed.
andsome
http://www.guardian.co.uk/midterms2006/sto...1942763,00.htmlWhen the going gets tough, the ???????????? get going.Great news. The States is now rid of a load of old rubbish. regarding how brilliant everything is over there, this may interest DW.The official poverty rate in the U.S. has increased for four consecutive years, from a 26-year low of 11.3% in 2000 to 12.7% in 2004. This means that 37.0 million people were below the official poverty thresholds in 2004. This is 5.4 million more than in 2000. The poverty rate for children under 18 years old increased from 16.2% to 17.8% over that period. The current poverty rate is measured according to the 2006 HHS Poverty Guidelines[5] which are illustrated in the table below.Taken from HERE
