-pops- Posted December 20, 2006 Report Share Posted December 20, 2006 It told me one of my ethernet ports wasn't functioning - it is because I'm using it to send this and that a hard drive is about to catastrophically fail and to back up immediately. Well, I've checked with every tester I'm aware of and they report it's OK.I'll have another play with it tomorrow but, from what I've seen, I wouldn't pay $29.95 (or whatever it is) when I can get similar but less doom laden programs for free.However, thanks for the link. One of my drives was "about to catastrophically fail". LOLbtw, what Testers can you recommend. All I tried was [Right click the drive>Properties>Tools, and two ticks] chkdsk. But it took far too long, my cpu was thrashing at 100% for an age (couple of hours) so I shut down the pc.And then un-installed Astra B)Here is a comment from the giveaway site:This is a fantastic program that gives me more info about my computer than I ever dreamed there was. I checked the health of all three HDD’s on my main system and was horrified to find that all three were “bad” and was advised to back up everything because the HDD’s were very likely to breakdown. The maker is the one who will know most about his drives and how they are bearing up under use.I also check in the Event Viewer - this gives a good indication if there is something wrong with a drive on start up.
