Alternatives to Norton Antivirus

I'd be very grateful if the board could give their opinion on the best antivirus program for Windows XP. I'm looking for something that doesn't slow my laptop down as much as Norton! Cost isn't such an issue, but its worth pointing out I'm an individual with finite resources!

Thanks

Simon

I use the free versions of AVG anti virus and AVG anti spyware on my laptop and am very happy with both.

Other members of the Forum will make equally valid recommendations for their favourites. In my opinion - almost anything is preferable to Norton.

Not only is it a first rate AV program, of great importance to UK users is the fact that support is available just a telephone call away. This is a standard rate call and NOT a premium rate number. The people there are extremely helpful, and are actually in the UK and NOT an Indian call centre.
