mark2
I'm currently trying out Avast 4 Home edition, updates much smaller than AVG frequency about the same, has a nice little feature will, scan when screensaver kicks in, doesn't take forever, not let anything in yet in 1mth use.Email protection harder to configure tho.Anyone else tried it yet ?Avast Download page

mark2
No problems as yet, where did it fall over for you ?
bvw
No mark, never tried it, but will look forward to hearing your views on it.AVG has done me proud for the last 18 months or so, although I've only had one virus ever, in a friend's email, which AVG dealt with. Tankus
Can Avg and this run of side by side , or does it cause conflicts , or using up all the resources...
Guest LB
it never really fell over, just wasn't keen on the interface and didn't seem as user friendly as AVG....
mark2
I initially tried AVG and Avast, with AVG as the resident protection, no problems at all, trying it the other way around I found that one of AVG's components was still showing in processes.May just be imagination but Avast seems to have a slightly smaller footprint on my system when in use.Updating is quick, faster than AVG, also quicker than GAV was.I ttink tonights update was in the region of 59 KB, over in seconds on BB but perhaps would be of benefit for Dial up users rather than BB. bvw in bristol, I trusted and relied on AVG, never let me down, saw Avast recommended elsewhere, at a time I was cleaning up my system, so thought I would trial it, so far so good ;) Aast currently using 3 processes, totalling approx 30,000 K memory.opening an app, CPU jumps to 30% for 2-3 seconds ;)
Redhat
I've used Avast for many months, till I bought KAV :) It's a fantastic free AV, and use it on other workstations on the network that don't require a big boy such as KAV. Avast has great protection and updates. Got a June VB100% too, same as AVG :)
Boris
it never really fell over, just wasn't keen on the interface and didn't seem as user friendly as AVG....Exactly the same for me - AVG much more user friendly ?I've also tried Anti-Vir, which I also preferred to AVAST.
