Blank Spam messages

Like many of us, I have received totally blank Emails from unknown sources - clearly spam but why blank.

I received one today and - on the advice of a friend - clicked the cursor in the message body and dragged it down. Sure enough it highlighted some invisible text - presumably white text on a white background.

You learn something every day - don't you...?

who would have thought that!!... I delete my spam before it even gets downloaded

So do I, using Mailwasher. Haven't had any for ages though, since changing my e mail address again. I reckon that most of what I had previously was as a result of entering competitions on the Classic FM site. I was probably spammed by the companies running the competitions.

I haven't had any either since moving over to Sky, and I am trying to restrict use of my new addres to prolong this happy state as long as I can.

The trick of white text on white background was disclosed on this forum only a short while ago. Wasn't it by pops?

My idea of white text on a white ground was a trick I offered someone who was designing a fill-in form.

It used to be quite a common thing in all sorts of documents published on the web - including "official" ones and you could find quite a lot of hidden stuff by highlighting and changing the text colour. Not done so much now as too many people know about it.

How about this.

This is a translation of Pats quote.

But if you use a "spoiler" tag, you won't be able to read anything without selecting the text.[/

?????

Can't understand why it was felt necessary to point that out?

Thos.

Is this addressed to Pat or me? :D
