scarletjames
This site is amazing .. very impressed and grateful to a friend for steering me here ..Downloaded Internet Explorer 7 three weeks ago .. when I was still with AOL dialup ..so didn`t give it much thought to the horrendous slowness .. but then a week later I did ring them and `We` couldn`t delete 7 - would Not go away ..Few days later I changed over to Virgin.. Bundle 3 Broadband .. hoping all would be well ..Virgin casued problems for days but seems to be OK But.. Int Explorer is still behaving badly at times and now won`t let me download or upload pics via a browser from any website or page..I have been hopefully saving all my stuff on external hard drive so that I can now fone them back and proceed with their directions for taking everything off my Dell computer and starting again .. It is frighterning .. hence I foned a friend and got to You ..Am I doing the right thing is there any other way .. sooo don`t want to lose all my `work` pics etc ..Thankyou .. fingers crossed....... xs
-pops-
To get you over your immediate problem, have you tried an alternative browser?Firefox is suggested and used by many (including me) in preference to IE (of any number).I know people will most likely come and say it will not cure the problem - that is true - but, as I wrote in the first sentence, it might get you over the immediate difficulty and, you never know, you might like it enough to stick to it.Firefox click here. cozofdeath
Yes Welcome! To add to the other comments, installing Firefox would be a good troubleshooting step. You may even like it better. Is there any additional info you can add, like is there any errors that pop up with Internet Explorer or is it just slow and occasionally not working? Or reinstall without format? Or do a repair install? Please describe exactly what you did. Also, if you reinstalled Windows, did you install all the device drivers, e.g. for your sound card? Re your keyboard, did you set the appropriate layout (e.g. UK English)?
cozofdeath
Sorry to hear that! Regarding the sound problem - you may be able to tell what sound card it is by starting your computer and when you see the bios screen flash it may say what kind you have or you may need to press a certain key to enter the bios. That screen should tell you what key. You could just open the case as well and you should see the name on the card. Just look on the back of your computer to see what card has the sound/mic inputs. Then you can post what brand/model it is on here and we can give you a link to the driver or just go to the manufactures site. Hope it helps! andsome
It does not sound to me as though you have done a fresh complete install including a format. A format will clear everything from the hard drive and a reinstall will put the operating system back on. The format and install should take about 1 hour, followed by installing all the drivers, which should not take too long. You say that you and IE wiped everything off your computer. IE does NOT wipe things from the computer, that is not its function. You say that there are missing bits in your important programs. I don't understand, if you properly install a program it does not have missing bits unless the installation has gone badly wrong and this is nothing to do with IE. Here is a catalogue of guides as to how to do things properly. Pick the one which is applicable and reinstall Windows properly.CLICK HERE. rong
go to the taskbar and right click on the bit the rather bad arrow is pointing to, and change it to English, the EN that shows on mine will be US or something like. If you haven't got anything showing there right click the taskbar and toolbars then language bar for it to show.
