doug Posted March 13, 2007 Report Share Posted March 13, 2007 Our No. 2 daughter has donated her old PC running Win 98 SE to a friend of ours and last week I set up her Broadband using BT. Just had a panic phone call to say that she's in trouble in that she's getting a message saying her browser is faulty. Now when I was there I found that the IE/BT e-mail client was a bit too cluttered for me but was able to download her BT welcome messages. She says she was also having great difficulty handling her e-mails - I know she got my welcome e-ail that I sent her that night 'cause MSGTAG said so but she said that she cannot read it. So when I get over to her shortly I'm proposing to set up her Outlook Express which is what I'm used to and can answer some of her questions over the phone. My question is - what are the settings for outlook express and BT i.e incoming and outgoing?I might load FireFox up for her as well as seeing if there's a repair option available. rong Posted March 13, 2007 Report Share Posted March 13, 2007 Unless she's paying extra for her Email in bt then it's a yahoo account (it is anyhow) that has to be accessed through yahoo. Not sure what the problem was in-spite of asking the nice young lady in India. Basically disabled the antivirus and firewall and connected OK following the telephoned instructions. Will certainly follow up your links as Morag agreed the simple OE will suit her down to the ground as the BT mail handling thing produced a very cluttered display which is confusing.
