Internet downloads are the future, baby. No driving, no postpaid envelopes. Any movie, any TV show, any time. Apple TV comes with an iPod-like remote. Only one problem: once you’ve downloaded the shows to your computer, how do you play them on the TV?Now, there are people — at least 12, for sure — who actually watch movies right on their computers, or who wire their PCs directly to their TV sets. The rest of us, however, are overwhelmed by cultural inertia. Internet downloads are mainly the preserve of kids interested in pop. DVDs Cd's etc will still be here for many years. Not everyone has money to waste on an ever increasing load of hardware. Remember that you can still buy VHS tapes and recorders. Some time ago, Curry's said that they were no longer going to stock VHS recorders. I haven't yet worked out how to do it, mainly because my pc is too far away from the television aerial. I need a wireless link to the incoming signal. Unfortunately I probably wont see something like this for a little but is nice to know Apple is still pushing out good ideas. It's a shame Microsoft can't ever be the first to come out with something like this. It seems they spend more time on ordinary stuff while Google, Apple, IBM, etc. are making the breakthroughs.
