Panarchy Posted May 10, 2007 Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt;<windows root>\system32\hal.dll.Please re-install a copy of the above file.This shows whenever I either turn off my computer, then start it up, or when I it comes out of hibernation.The only way I can fix this problem is to put the vista installation dvd into the drive and just wait, then it starts up normally. This is starting to get annoying.What do I do?Please help!PanarchyPS: I have: 2GB of RAM, and an nvidia 7600GS 256MB graphic's card, an 80GB hard drive & Windows Vista Ultimate. andsome Posted May 10, 2007 Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 You seem to have much more trouble than most. Is it perhaps because you mess about too much with trials for this and trials for that? Why not try a complete format and reinstall and then leave well alone? It is for this reason that I, and an awful lot of others will not consider Vista until such time as we buy a new computer. Some will say they they have upgraded and have no problems. Good luck to them, but I still wouldn't be influenced by the argument of those who must always have the latest, even though what they have now does everything that they want.
