Are you old enough to remember these.

During the war, while my uncle was away on board ship, my aunt used to stand in a bowl and apply a mixture of sand and water to her legs to colour them. I wasn't old enough at that time to understand what she was up to when she went out with her painted legs. :D

Did she do it all the time he was on board ship? Her legs must have ached by the time he got home.

I can just see the picture. You uncle coming home on leave, kicking out the cat, and saying, 'What are we doing with 10cwt of sand in the kitchen Doris?'

She did it quite often before she went out, when we were with my mother, who was baby sitting for her.

'What are we doing with 10cwt of sand in the kitchen Doris?'

Her name was May.

Well who was it then that came in with a hatred of cats, and who complained about the sand? He must not have known her as May.

CATS????????????????
Cats like to use sand for their toiletry needs.

Anyone with children, don't forget to cover their sandpits over when not in use! :0

I see now, thanks. Cats are horrible creatures, crapping in OTHER peoples gardens is bad enough, it never occured to me about kids sand pits. Dogs can be confined to their owners gardens, and are much more suitable as pets.
