doug
No.2 daughter is having trouble getting onto the Internet - she's with BT BB. Sometimes she's OK others like now, she cant. Her hubby popped over today to try and access their e-mails - I was out. Apparently, when he tried to get in he got a message that he (I?) would have to pay to download the package! Can anyone enlighten me on this? If so would you advise on how I could look into her account to check for e-mails for her and print them out. She has given me permission to use her password. Ta. doug
So is Susan's problem with BT then?
-pops-
I guess so. I'm still having problems with Yahoo mail, BTYahoo browser and with my BT POP3 mail.Fortunately, I have other POP3 accounts and webmail so it's not too much of a problem on a Saturday but I hope it's fixed before Monday. doug
Susan's been having intermittent problems with access to the Internet in general. quite a problem for her because she's in the final stages of her degree type course and she has to do a lot of work using the internet. So she has benn popping over to use mine for some of her searches. Mine isn't in great shape either for secure sites at present.
Boris
This may be totally irrelevant ?.... but ............. quite a few people I know are having internet access problems in the last 3 or 4 weeks. They've been fine until recently. I understand one of them who actually works for Orange has said that there is possibly a link between this access problem and something in the April/May set of Windows updates. He was apparently told by his tech people to uninstall the April and May updates ......... and his PC is now trouble free again.I personally have had no connection problems and have installed everything to date from Windows Update. -pops-
My problems are restricted to Yahoo and BTYahoo (and the POP3 mail which is linked to that). Everything else is working OK - with the latest MS updates. That said, there may be more problems with Susan's machine than those I've outlined. catgate
This may (or may not) be part of the problem that I have be been bumbling along about for the past week or more, wherein I have asked about forum reaction speed and memory checking. A friend in a village about 5 miles away asked me if I would go down and help his mother get onto the 'net. She had just got a new lap top that was supposes to just need connecting in and firing up. It turned out when I got there that she didn't have the right bits of wire in the right holes. However when this was corrected the router just would not connect up at all, with or without the lap top hooked up. She claimed that the supplier had set everything up for her and even her account was set up and her username and password had been fed in.She then told me a leaflet had just passed round their village and it said something about BB, but she could not find it. We went to consult Dave, her neighbour, who said he had been having much the same sort of thing that I had been having for what seemed like a similar time, but including the occasional refusal to connect at all. All three of us were using different ISPs but we, and all the village around, are on the same BT exchange. Now I'm not a brain surgeon...but....!!!!!! My friends mother thinks her husband changed telephone companies between her ordering her laptop and it being delivered (set up for original tele. co. ).Additionally I think I have an internal fault on my machine connected in some way to VMware. Also, Dave claims that his problem has passed.Looked at in another way, it might have been three other chaps.Any one for a cup of coffee?
