-pops-
I will soon be summer - not that you'd know that today but, it's time to get the brushes, cans of compressed air and mini-vacuum cleaners out. With the prospect of hot weather soon, it will pay you to open up your machine and clear out the grot that will have accumulated over the innards of your computer such as the fans and heat sinks.I cleaned one of my machines this morning and did a before and after temperature check (with the machine idling) I achieved a 6 degree drop just by removing the dust from the fins of the heatsink. The same or similar is achievable in your machine(s) so I recommend that you do it now to save problems, and perhaps despair, when the weather does eventually get better. While you're at it, think about doing a cleanup of the data as well. Chuck out all those old programs, files and data that you don't need any more. Do a defrag as well.

catgate
Did mine a month ago whilst chasing a gremlin. Turned out to be a conflict between FC5 "updates" (I think), so I wiped all and put on Ubuntu7 for a trial.
