What is the best anti-spyware program?

Recommended Posts

I want to buy or get (freeware) a good spyware program, but I don't want one that will take up a lot of memory and slow the computer down (spyware doctor).

Can someone please recomend me a good anti-spyware?

Thanks in advanced,

Panarchy

I am very happy with AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (paid version). There is also a free version; the only difference is that it doesn't automatically download definition updates, and it doesn't allow scheduled scans.

At home I'm happily using Prevx2; no free version available here (but a 30 day trial).

I have also tried SUPERAntiSpyware, but its logo is so incredible unprofessionally ugly that I never want to see it on any of my computers again!

Not being at all concerned as to the appearance of its logo, I use and recommend SUPERAntiSpyware, and also A Squared. Back these up with Spyware blaster and Spyware guard, both of these act in a passive way by attempting to stop Spyware from getting onto the computer, and as such have no scanning arrangements.

A Squared and SUPERAntiSpyware are both scanning engines, and remove anything that has already got onto the computer. Spyware Guard and Spyware blaster both sit on the computer and do a silent job of trying to prevent Malware getting onto the computer in the first place. Spyware Blaster also protects your home page and helps to stop malicious programs from changing it.

the programs i use are:

SUPERantispyware

Ad-aware SE [including ad-watch]

Spybot

Spyware blaster

Spyware guard

spyware guard and blaster are great for background protection

ad-aware is a great scanner [ad-watch is a great addon which secures you in realtime]

spybot is also a great scanner

and SUPERantispyware is a great scanner too, but i dont run in realtime, because i think it slows down my pc to much [and i DO have a good/fast computer]

I use Avast free (home version)

Adaware SE

Spybot S&D

& Spywareblaster. All updated and, apart from the one that runs in the background, I do weekly scans with them.

All I can say is that I have had no problems in 6 six years apart from the odd tracking cookie. B)
