colrich
I have talktalk broadband with a modem supplied by them. Often when I swich on my computer and dial my broadband connection it fails to connect and I get an error message. Disconnecting and reconnecting the modem (and waiting for the ADSL light to stop flashing) usually cures the problem, though sometimes this has be done twice. Does anyone know how to cure this tedious problem? Would buying a more expensive modem be the answer?
doug
Not sure if this will help but I was having quite a few problems with my TT router.- a SmartAX MT882 - which was connected to my PC via a USB port. I invested in an Ethernet card (£6.50 + £2.50 for the cable) and connected using that. No problems since - so far. I followed a link given to me pointing to TalkTalk

-pops-
An Ethernet connection is much better than USB and if you are on USB, check if your computer already has an Ethernet connector. If it doesn't, as doug says, an Ethernet card won't cost very much.If your modem is USB only it is worthwhile getting a better quality model with Ethernet. colrich
Thanks for advice to date, I'll search the site referred to. I'm not using a router by the way, what I meant was I have a direct connection by wires to the computer from the phone line with talk-talk supplied Sagem f@st modem in between. Boris
Have you tried updating the drivers for the Sagem USB modem ?
colrich
I didn't know they could be updated! The drivers were installed when I joined talk talk and the modem was supplied at the same time, and I've had this problem from the start (about 12 months ago). Sorry to be thick but- how do I update? andsome
A friend of mine has similar problems with TT connected via USB. TT themsleves are not much help, even if you can understand the Bombay accent.
