Irene Posted August 23, 2007 Report Share Posted August 23, 2007 AVG has detected Trojan horse Generic6.UMU this morning. :( There are two instances.... One is in Program Files and the other in System Volume Information. The first is a setup.exe, the second is a 'restore' file called, A0002778.exe. Both file sizes are 444.92 KB. Both files are in the Virus Vault. I'm just running another scan to see if anything else pops up. :0 Oh no, not more !!! ... this is what is says at this moment. (It's still running). Irene Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Share Posted August 23, 2007 The scan found just the three mentioned in my first post.When this had finished, I did a Check for Updates.There was a 'Priority' update, so I ran the scan once more on the Program Files where the 3 were previously.No threats this time. However, it did say at the end of the other Full Scan that the three files had been healed.I think I'll do a re-boot and run yet another Full Scan. To do this, just disable system restore on all drives, and turn it back on again. This deletes all the restore points (and thus the virus). Just make sure you make a backup with some sort of other software before doing this. If you use ONLY system restore for backups, this might be a good time to look into some other options. Since the Priority Update this morning, I have scanned with both AVG and A2. Nothing has shown as a threat. :D I am hoping that this will be the end of it.
