deuces wild
Not too often. In fact, only once during the graduation ceremony yesterday when the Lt. Colonel heading the ceremonies spoke directly to the Marines on the Parade Deck. Some pics of the 2 days:Thursday - Family Day, All Weather Buildinghttp://img122.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine005bn4.jpg (After 13 weeks this was our 1st view of Our Marines)Friday - Graduation Day, Parade Deckhttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine029ml0.jpghttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine032vg1.jpghttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine052wn3.jpghttp://img265.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine036ky0.jpghttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine043yi2.jpghttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine049ea1.jpghttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine051rf3.jpg (My Son's Platoon 2098)http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine052dn6.jpg (same)One of many Physical Training Areashttp://img223.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine017us0.jpgMuseum Picshttp://img214.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine022gj5.jpghttp://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4431/marine023zj0.jpghttp://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1969/marine024lb9.jpghttp://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marine025hm5.jpgBTW: Today is the 232nd birthday of the US Marine Corps. deuces wild
Thanks Tankus. His past 13 weeks were certainly not a picnic in the park. The Marines boot camp lasts 5 weeks longer than other military branches and includes a 54 hour final test of 40 miles of marching, physical tests, teamwork tests and other types of activities all on a total of 8 hours sleep and 3 meals over 3 days. It is called the Crucible and starts at 4 am Thursday and ends at 8 am Saturday. It ends with Marine Globe and Anchor pins being awarded to the recruits officially making them Marines. They are then given a tremendous breakfast (the Warriors breakfast) then start preparations for Family Day followed by Graduation on the Parade Deck. This 4 1/2 minute video sums up the ordeal.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-3sD23AEgMHe leaves in 10 days for additional training. :(

deuces wild
Great video DW. :) Chin up...... He'll be back soon. ;)Thanks! Hopefully he will be back home during Christmas after his upcoming 3 week training. He is spending time tonight with some old friends and will be spending the night at their place. He wants to join us for noon Mass tomorrow and then treat us to lunch. My daughter will join us for both the Mass and lunch making us a full family again. Can it get any better than that? andsome
Very nice souvenir picture. It all seems like too much hard work for me though. :D :D I'll settle for my new recliner when it arrives in three weeks. :D
