AVG Auto update

i have been using AVG for a whil now, and noticed that it kept minimizing my windows because it updates

even if i uncheck: "Display information about the update process", it keeps doing that

is there a way, and not shutting AVG down, to keep the update process from minimizing my windows?

btw:

it minimizes windows because it takes away the "focus", it makes windows focus on its update window, but that isnt there [?]

maybe disabling Update could work, but how do i do that?

The free edition only has manual updates. Personally I much prefer manual updates even for Windows XP itself. Automatic updates always seem to kick in just when I'm doing something tricky - sods law, I suppose. In fact I don't have a single automatic update on any of my programs or utilities. Also when they start they have a noticeable slowing effect on other programs. Which is what you'd expect since Windows runs serially, not in parallel: programs "running in the background" must take resources from other programs. B)

Also, something keeps minimizing my windows as well from time to time and I can't figure out what it is. I thought it was CCleaner re-setting some settings. :uhm:

@Dencandy:

ehm

AVG Free does have Auto-update

Quite right Coreper. I forgot I had dissabled it. Did you sort this yet? Maybe you installation is corrupt, so you could try uninstalling & reinstalling. Also check the old AV has been completely eliminated from your system. Also check that Windows Security Centre is running OK. Let us know what happens.

You might have to give it up and try another free AV like Avast or AntiVir, both of which are highly regarded.
