Surely it's not religion itself that's the problem - it's the fanatical belief: "I am right and you are wrong, therefore you most be eliminated." Think of the non-religious fanatics in recent history: Stalin, Hitler, Mao Tse-Dung, Pol Pot. I think humans all have a tendancy to fanaticism and it comes out when they feel threatened by "others". :flowers:

You are right of course, but the thing is that the religious fanatics kill in the name of their God.

Yes indeed, the God of love or compassion or whatever. The political fanatic kills in the name of revenge, equality or justice or the free-market, even democracy sometimes.

That's what fanaticism is all about whether it's religion or some other cause; they are all capable of killing and viewing it as justice.

I remember a 'fanatic' being described as "One who redoubles his efforts after forgetting the purpose of original aim,"

I would feel better about it if the so-called moderate muslims who claim that these nutters are not truly representative of their faith would do something positive to demonstrate against the insanity.

But they won't.

but they did :flowers:

I hope it's not too prickly  No starch allowed.

It has not complained yet and it has been going on for a long long time. Longer than this forum has existed. The cat first saw the light of day in the 60s. It was created by a friend who was an extraordinarily gifted cartoonist and it has figured on my home produced Xmas cards ever since. It had the holly extracted in order to come on to WF in the first place, and so over the years the holly is just another part of it's yearly cycle.

Whilst I am pleased to see that she has been released - it is a diabolically cruel twist of fate that her punishment now is to be deported back to Liverpool.

I suppose someone has to live there, otherwise they would have to close it down.
