Mike567
Their is radiation all around us which personally I'm not bothered by, cars for example they cause a rather lot of radiation from the engine yet what would we do without them?Their are a lot of alternatives but they are not in mass productions. If no one cocked up we wouldn't be so advanced with science, and we don't need any more health and safety .Nuclear power is no way near enough to power all our electronics by 2012, and the fact people are bribing other countrys to hold their waste is disguisting, and saying it takes centuries untill its safe is a major understatement.Considering they will continue to dump waste in their will cause it to last even longer, and lets not even get into what a target it would be for terrorists. catgate
Some of the galaxies in the universe are millions of light years away. The half life of uranium is such that if we shot the nuclear waste off in rockets to these galaxies it would be harmless when it got there. And they call themselves scientists????????? And if it wasn't harmless when it got there it would not matter, because the Earth would be non-existent by then. And even if it the Earth still existed it would still take millions more light years for them up there to send the stuff back.

Tankus
err cats ....payload weight ..?.........and seeing that the shuttles near the end of its extended life , your going to need a hell of a lot of soyuz , ...would you want to be downrange of that ? , with a few tonnes of unsheilded near critical waste on board ......... nah
catgate
No problem, Tankus.. There is enough hot air coming out of the Palace of Westminster to power the rockets up into the stratosphere. If there is an occasional shortage of motive power this could be compensated for by using the industrial strength elastic currently fighting to keep some of the government mammary equipment in check.Come to think of it, some of the government would make good rocket jockeys, and they have all wanted to rise above the rest of us.
