-pops-
Several days ago, I started my main machine up and when it was fully booted (I just switch on and leave it to it while I make a cup of tea) I then noticed that the clock was reading 5 - 20 am when, in checking, I found the real time to be 6 - 05. I adjusted the time to the correct setting using europe.pool and thought about installing a new motherboard battery. Everything else was correct - date, BIOS settings etc.The following day, the time at startup read 4 - 15 when, again, it was about 6 - 00. I still hadn't sorted out a battery so, as everything was going OK, I left it.Saturday, yesterday and today, the time on the clock was correct at startup.Everything appears to be working as it should, there is nothing untoward in Event Viewer or anywhere else that I can see.I don't want to replace/adjust things without good reason so, has anyone an explanation of what might have happened?Note - I always switch off at the mains overnight. doug
I had similar problems to that pops. I think your m/b may be on the way out. Had many erratic performances of the clock and sometimes had to re-set and at other times it was OK. This was inspite of frequently changing the battery. Then the floppy wouldn't work and iffy performance of my optical drives. So I bit the bullet and changed the m/b, so far all is well. -pops-
Oh no! :(
doug
Hope not for you but can only speak of my situation. The clock performance had been building up over a couple of years then when the other issues started that was it. Can I suggest you put a few pennies from your OAP pension in the Post Office until you can afford a replacement
Irene
Intermittent problems are always the worst to diagnose! P.S. I tried to post this reply three times. When I did a preview before posting, the system threw me out, back to the main menu. P.P.S. When I tried to preview the Edit, it did the same... threw me out to the main menu!
