cryptic Posted January 31, 2008 Report Share Posted January 31, 2008 I'm having a problem formatting my hard drive. I have a C and D drive.. I formatted them both and the D drive wiped everything as it should have but when I try to format my C: drive it seems to work.. It gets to 100% but when I restart my computer all of my old files are still there.. any idea why this would happen? I suspect that if you try to format the C: drive from within Windows - the operating system is not willing to destroy itself.I imagine to format the C: drive you need to do so from an appropriate CD.I am sure one of our experts will come along and put us right.
