Mike567
I was supposed to have a replacement card by now, but I haven't.Everytime I call them up they are experiencing technical difficulties!!! So if my money goes missing they will have me screaming at them untill I get the money back, because I am so annoyed its rediculous!I shall be switching and never returning to barclays! Alan2273
Think of the money you are saving by not having a card, you should be thanking them.
Mike567
What are the odds my money will still be in my account?
catgate
What are the odds my money will still be in my account? Why are you being issued with a replacement card? Is it because your security has been "compromised" as they like to call it?About a month ago quite unknown to me my debit card had been swiped/scanned/cloned/skmmed or what ever they call it, and a number of hundreds of pounds had been taken out of the account. My bank (NatWest) rang me and informed me of this. They told me to destroy my existing card. They sent me a new one in a couple of days. They also sent me some paper work to fill in to claim back what had gone out of my account that I had not authorised. It was not instant, but it was as efficient as most things are these days. I have now had everything reimbursed that was taken illegally and all seems to be back on a sound footing, well as sound as most things are these days. Mike567
I plan on changing to natwest, all I've heard are good comments from them. But my old card expired so they 'sent' me a new one, didn't they used to send you two letters one being the card and another being the one to activate the card? -pops-
With LloydsTSB you activate over the phone through an 0800 which you get from a sticker on the card. I think the separate post is the PIN number on a new issue (i.e. not replacement) card.
Mike567
Can I ask who prefers what bank?
-pops-
I've been with Lloyds for a very long time indeed. I started at Barclays but left them after two years when they had the temerity to send me a letter (costing 3d to post) telling me my account was 1d overdrawn (d as in old pennies). It was sent the same day that funds were expected, the bank knew they were expected and, in fact, they were credited - by the time the letter had left the bank and was in the care of the Royal Mail - my account was in credit. So, up yours Barclays!Never had any problems with Lloyds at all. No doubt there will be tales of woe about them, as with any other bank but, that is my view. catgate
I've been with the NatWest since they were the District Bank (late 50s).They were then taken over by the Westminster Bank, then amalgamated with the National Provincial (late 60s) and became National Westminster. Some time in the late 90s they were acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland. I tell you this to point out that who you join today may well not be your choice tomorrow, when they have changed. When I joined the District bank I was a name, and known to the bank staff (granted the District Bank in Settle was not very big) but now I am just a number. That having been said, I have had no problem with them that warranted a change....yet. They are all interested in your money and not you.
Gandalph
I had a business account with the Natwest for twenty years. I certainly wouldn't have a Personal Account with them.
Mike567
lloyds or natwest then, think I shall be asking more people about it before I switch though.I finally got through to someone on the phone for barclay though :), shall be getting my new card soon FINALLY!Think it would be a good idea to have 2 bank accounts so if one expires and I have this trouble I will have some spare cash. Mike567
I would do that if I needed to do some tax evasion, but I've given up on the business .
