Scarecrow Man
is it the best free firewallIt is quite good. I cannot say best, as I have not tried every firewall available.and is it better than windows firewall cos everyone is telling me to close windows firewall and only hav one better firewallYes. Absolutely. The Windows firewall does not block outbound traffic, and it can be switched off by another application, possibly even by a worm or virus
theguy
i dont mean the best out of ALL firewalls, but the best out of all FREE firewalls
Scarecrow Man
I personally believe it to be the best of both free and paid versions - But, that's my opinion. :)
Gandalph
Windows firewall is as useful as a chocolate teapot.
andsome
Windows firewall is one way only, so almost anything is better. It is all down to personal preference. I tried Zone Alarm and Comodo, and preferred Comodo out of the two, but there are several more available. Free is not always best, and I now use Nod 32 Security suite, which is consistently in the top three in INDEPENDENT tests. No one on here to the best of my knowledge has the means of deciding which is the best, only what suits their personal preferences best. :D
andsome
Windows firewall is as useful as a chocolate teapot. If I had one of those I wouldn't try to put tea in it, I would just eat it, being a chocoholic. :D
theguy
btw, is norton security's firewall better than the free firewalls?
Dencandy
I installed the Comodo free Firewall about a year ago after reading a report that it gained the highest score in a series of demanding tests. Unfortunately I didn't keep a record of the report. It's worked flawlessly since.Sygate free provides the most information about attempted scans & intrusions, but since Norton took it over a few years back it's no longer updated.Personally, and after bitter experience, I'm very sceptical of anything from Norton. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
btw, is norton security's firewall better than the free firewalls?Anything Norton/Symantec cannot be possibly considered "better" than (or in any way compared to) other software. Do not install symantecware on your computer!
